Monday:-5:30pm – 8:30pm
Wednesday:- 12pm – 8:30pm
Thursday:-12pm – 4:30pm
 
Annual Salary - £20,626 or £10,608 pro-rata (Rate: - £12.75 per hour)
 
Contract Period:  3 years (renewable based on performance and funding)
 
 
ABOUT KNIGHTS YOUTH CENTRE
 
Knights Youth Centre (KYC) is an independent Christian Youth Work Charity established in 1936. The Centre provides a range of universal and targeted youth work programmes in partnership with a number of statutory and voluntary organisations. The Centre is located on the boundary of the Clapham Park Estate (the largest estate in the Borough of Lambeth) in an area of high social need.
 
JOB PURPOSE
 
The Youth Worker will be responsible for the development and delivery of KYC’s targeted service with young people.  Working two evenings a week, this will involve managing and delivering core aspects of service delivery - developing strong, professional relationships with young people and ensuring effective partnerships with statutory and voluntary sector agencies as well as outreach work.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
 
   To be a key worker in KYC’s girls/young women’s project to include delivering evening sessions, residential provision and off site activities
 
   To represent the centre with partners, funders, and key agencies.
 
   To be part of a team of staff and volunteers to deliver a challenging, safe, fun and inclusive programme for girls and young women aged 10 – 25. The Girls project meets on a Wednesday evening. 
 
   To work in the Inters  section (Monday evening) within KYC as a member of the team (male/female young people in school years 8,9 & 10)
 
   To work as part of a team of workers (including supporting & developing sessional staff, volunteers and placement students) to deliver the service. 
    To develop strong, professional relationships with young people (and families) aged 10 - 25.
   Work with schools and YOS to deliver preventative interventions and utilising youth mentors where necessary
   To develop and lead targeted activities and 1-1 support for young women.
   Where necessary deliver school and detached youth work activity to identify and provide mentoring support for local young women at risk of sexual exploitation and crime/gang activity
   To deliver an annual schedule of residential and offsite programmes for young women.
   Provide accessible and tangible opportunities for the young people to plan and shape on the delivery and development of the service.
   To measure the impact programmes and services have on the young people through the Outcomes Star model or similar
   Develop partnerships with statutory and voluntary sector agencies to deliver a range of inputs to support the more vulnerable young women attending. To include identifying opportunities for young women to access relevant training/educational programmes.
   To make small funding applications to deliver girls & young Women’s project.
   To support the Inters section (on a Monday evening - School Years 8, 9, 10) in ensuring services delivered are relevant and accessible to girls/young women.
   Work alongside lead trustees responsible for fundraising, finance, pr/comms and training and development. Report to Knights Trustee Board three/four times a year with regards to project priorities and milestones.
   To carry out any administrative duties in line with the post. This will include writing and presenting reports in a variety of environments. (Will include budget management, funding applications - some youth led, evaluation/monitoring, service delivery sessional reports and supervision)
   To undertake any other tasks relevant to the post contained within the Centre’s Service plan or individual work plan.
   To be sympathetic to the aims of Knights Youth Centre and to work within the professional boundaries and policies at Knights Youth Centre.
